Configuration
All files live in one directory per user. Files holding keys or trust decisions are created
readable by the current user only (0600 on Unix; on Windows the user profile’s ACL applies).
| OS | Directory |
|---|---|
| Linux | $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/jump/, default ~/.config/jump/ |
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/jump/ |
| Windows | %APPDATA%\jump\ |
| File | Owner | Contents |
|---|---|---|
agent.toml |
agent | Settings: listen = "0.0.0.0:7420" |
agent-identity.key |
agent | The agent’s private key |
agent-trusted.toml |
agent | Paired bridges |
agent-pairing.toml |
agent | The active pairing code, if any (deleted when used or expired) |
nodes.toml |
bridge | Paired nodes: address and pinned fingerprint |
bridge-identity.key |
bridge | The bridge’s private key |
Deleting an identity key gives that machine a new identity: every pairing with it must be redone.
| Environment variable | Effect |
|---|---|
JUMP_AGENT_CONFIG |
Agent config path (same as jump-agent --config); the agent’s other files live beside it. Login sessions don’t see it, so jump-agent autostart enable records the path as --config. |
JUMP_AGENT_NO_TRAY |
Set to true to run the agent without a tray icon (same as serve --no-tray) |
JUMP_NODES |
Node registry path (same as jump --nodes); the bridge key lives beside it |
JUMP_PAIRING_CODE |
Code for jump nodes add when --code is omitted |
RUST_LOG |
Log level, e.g. debug. Agent default info, bridge default warn. Logs go to stderr. |
Upgrading from Phase 0
Section titled “Upgrading from Phase 0”Phase 0 used a shared token and unencrypted connections; it cannot talk to this version. Remove
old nodes (jump nodes remove <name>, or delete nodes.toml), then pair each one again.
The agent ignores a leftover token line in agent.toml and logs a reminder to remove it.
Upgrading from a version that said “devices”
Section titled “Upgrading from a version that said “devices””Nodes used to be called devices. Existing pairings keep working: on first run jump renames
devices.toml to nodes.toml, and jump devices …, --devices and JUMP_DEVICES still work
as aliases for jump nodes …, --nodes and JUMP_NODES. MCP tools are renamed with no alias
(list_devices is now list_nodes, device_info is now node_info, and the device
argument is now node), so update any prompts or scripts that name them.
